KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 16): Bertam Alliance Bhd’s Managing Director Tan Ai Tong will resign from the board with effect from April 14 next year, a filing with Bursa Malaysia late yesterday showed.

Earlier in the day, the company had notified the exchange of the resignation of two others board members.

Tan, 60, who was appointed to the board on July 23, 2002, cited personal and other work commitments as the reason for his resignation.

Tan has been disposing shares in the company. As at June 9, he held an indirect or deemed interest of 1.89% or 3.9 million shares in Bertam. This compares with a 2.06% indirect interest as at April 23, based on the company’s latest annual report.

Meanwhile, Chairman and Independent Non-Executive Director Wu Ching Min @ Goh Ching Min resigned effective Oct 14, citing the same reason, just a year after his appointment.

Wu was appointed a director on Sept 13, 2013, and made chairman on Dec 20, 2013.

Khoo Hui Giok, 36, a non-independent and non-executive director, has also resigned effective Oct 14. Khoo was first appointed to the board on March 1, 2012.

On July 31, Bertam saw the emergence of a new shareholder, Wisma Jutamas Sdn Bhd, with a 32.89% stake or 68 million shares.

Wisma Jutamas, which has Lee Kian Chung and Lee Kian Vui as directors and shareholders, acquired the stake via an off-market deal from Brem Holdings Bhd.
