<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>BMedia said the proceeds arising from the disposal will be used immediately for working capital.</p></div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, BMedia said the disposal of 11.26 million shares was done last Wednesday in the market. It acquired the BCorp shares in 2010, whose average carrying value was 27 sen per share as at last Wednesday.</p></div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>“The disposal is not expected to have any material effect on the earnings of [the] BMedia group. The net asset [value] per share of [the] BMedia group was reduced from 7.8 sen as at April 30 to 7.3 sen, and the gearing ratio was increased from 0.39 to 0.42 times for the same period,” it added.</p></div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>BMedia shares were untraded yesterday. The counter last closed at 20.5 sen per share, giving it a market capitalisation of RM48.19 million.</p></div>

CIMB Thai Bank PCL’s net profit for the first quarter ended March 31, 2024 (1QFY2024) dropped 24.6% year-on-year to 626.1 million baht from 830.1 million baht, as it reported lower operating income and higher expenses.  

The group recorded an 8.4% drop in operating income and an 11.8% increase in operating expenses. The effects of these were partially offset by a 36.9% decline in expected credit loss, according to CIMB Thai president and chief executive officer Paul Wong Chee Kin in a statement.
