KUALA LUMPUR (June 25): Berjaya Land Bhd's pre-tax profit for the financial year ended April 30, 2014, rose to RM518.02 million, compared to RM461.39 million in the same period last year.

The performance was driven by higher profit contribution from the hotels and resorts, as well as property development and investment businesses.

In an announcement to Bursa Malaysia, the company said that revenue increased 18 per cent to RM5.01 billion, from RM4.25 billion previously.

For the fourth quarter, its pre-tax profit fell to RM109.46 million, from RM119.81 million in the same quarter last year.

In contrast, revenue rose 12 per cent to RM1.56 billion, from RM1.14 billion previously.

Berjaya Land expects the current financial year ending April 30, 2015, to continue to remain challenging, amid the current economic outlook.
