KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 4): Based on corporate announcements and news flow today, stocks in focus on Thursday (Oct 5) may include: Berjaya Assets, Deleum, Talam Transform, Pestech International, Marine & General, Advancecon, Bioalpha, PDZ, Perisai, iDimension, Ibraco and Bison.

The Sultan of Johor’s daughter, Tunku Tun Aminah Sultan Ibrahim Ismail, has been appointed Berjaya Assets Bhd's new non-independent and non-executive chairman, effective today.

Tun Aminah is also on the board of several other private companies, including Berjaya Waterfront Sdn Bhd, REDtone Network Sdn Bhd, Jauhari Maksima Sdn Bhd and Ibzi Holdings Sdn Bhd.

Deleum Bhd's 60%-owned subsidiary, Deleum Primera Sdn Bhd, has secured a five-year maintenance, construction and modification contract from Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd.

Scope of work will include topside structural maintenance, hook-up and commissioning, and facilities improvement programme.

The value of the contract depends on the agreed rates and the work orders issued by Petronas Carigali during the contract execution throughout the contract duration, and has a one-year extension option.

Talam Transform Bhd has bagged a contract worth RM36.55 million for the construction of factory buildings as well as electric sub-stations in Dengkil, Selangor.

Talam Transform said it accepted the letter of award from property developer Projek Alam 2012 Sdn Bhd, to undertake the construction and completion of 24 units of semi-detached two-storey factories, 14 units of semi-detached three-storey factories, and two units of Tenaga Nasional Bhd electric sub-stations.

The project is to be completed in 18 months.

Pestech International Bhd said its unit has been awarded with an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract for a new 230kV outdoor power substation in the Philippines, at a contract sum of about RM50.17 million.

Under the contract, Pestech will deliver a new 230kV outdoor substation — the Calamba 230kV main substation — to serve the Laguna province of Luzon Island, which is about 60km away from the Manila International Airport.

The contract value is set out to be US$5.36 million (RM22.67 million) for the offshore portion, and 332.14 million pesos (RM27.5 million) for the onshore portion.

Marine & General Bhd‘s subsidiary Jasa Merin (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has been awarded a contract worth RM25 million by Repsol Oil & Gas Malaysia Ltd for the provision of two anchor handling tug supply vessels.

The contract from Repsol commences immediately and is for one year, with a one-year optional extension.

Advancecon Holdings Bhd's unit, Advancecon Infra Sdn Bhd (AISB), has secured a sub-contract worth RM32.67 million at Gamuda Garden in the Gombak district.

The contract commenced on Sept 28, 2017 and shall be completed by Jan 31, 2019, and will be funded via internally-generated funds and/or external borrowings.

Bioalpha Holdings Bhd has set up a new research and development (R&D) centre in Hong Kong to localise its nutritional and healthcare products for the Chinese market.

A new wholly-owned subsidiary in Hong Kong, BioAlpha (HK) Ltd, was set up with an issued share capital of HK$2 million, to carry out R&D activities in Hong Kong Science Park, in line with statutory body Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corp's tech-based initiatives in the region.

The subsidiary will principally carry on business related to its nutritional and health supplement products, in areas of R&D, manufacture, import, export, distribution and trade.

The High Court has struck out a law suit brought by three firms against a vessel belonging to PDZ Holdings Bhd which was arrested in January, over alleged non-payment for fuel supplied.

The court also ordered the firms — CCK Petroleum Sdn Bhd, CCK Capital Ltd and CCK Petroleum (Labuan) Ltd — to pay PDZ legal costs of RM5,000.

Perisai Petroleum Teknologi Bhd’s external auditor has warned of a material uncertainty in respect of the group’s financial statements for the year ended June 30, 2017, (FY17) which may cast doubt over the group’s ability to continue as a going concern.

The auditor has expressed unqualified audit opinion on the financial statement of Perisai for FY17.

iDimension Consolidated Bhd's largest shareholders have called for an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) for the immediate removal of two of its executive directors.

Shareholders representing an aggregate of 18.01% of the total issued share capital of iDimension Consolidated are seeking for the immediate removal of two executive directors, Tan Kian Meng and Pang Lee Fung, and the appointment of Ang Beng Leong and Yap Tet Soon in replacement.

Ibraco Bhd has teamed up with HELP Education Services Sdn Bhd to offer education at the primary, secondary and pre-university levels.

Ibraco has set up a joint venture (JV) company with HELP called Ibraco Help Education Sdn Bhd, with an initial paid-up capital of RM100.

The JV company will also be offering the education services with either local or foreign institutions.

Also worth keeping an eye on is the material announcement by Bison Consolidated Bhd tomorrow. The company requested the trading of its shares to be suspended tomorrow to make way for the announcement.
