KUALA LUMPUR (March 9): Barakah Offshore Petroleum Bhd’s subsidiary has issued a notice of adjudication on Petronas Gas Bhd to claim RM6.85 million in relation to a work done in April 2018.

The contract entails the provision of pre-commissioning works to replace the whole stretch of damaged pipeline crossing at Sungai Layau in Johor first awarded in April 2014 by the wholly-owned subsidiary, PBJV Group Sdn Bhd.

Besides this claim, Barakah, whose operating licence has been suspended by Petronas for three years since July 2019, has four other legal proceedings against the national oil company and its subsidiaries.

Barakah, in August 2019, had demanded RM1.02 billion from Petronas for the “unwarranted” three-year suspension notice.

It also filed a notice of arbitration on Petronas Gas to claim RM179.84 million concerning the Pengerang Gas Pipeline project, and another statutory notice against Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd to claim RM477,467 for a contract in 2016.

Barakah shares closed 0.5 sen or 20% down at two sen, giving it a market capitalisation of RM17 million.
