He will be the 15th Selangor MB.
Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah was in favour of Azmin as the new Selangor menteri besar to replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
The appointment letter from the palace was delivered to Azmin's home in Ampang today and the appointment is effective tomorrow.
"In relation to this, Sir, you are requested to attend the swearing-in ceremony which will be held on September 23, at 10.30am at the Istana Alam Shah, Klang," the letter read.
It is learnt that PKR top leaders are now in the midst of a meeting at the party's headquarters in Petaling Jaya, to decide whether or not to endorse Azmin's appointment and give up on its intention to appoint PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as Khalid's replacement.
