KUALA LUMPUR: Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd group chief executive officer Datuk Rohana Rozhan has been appointed adjunct professor of Universiti Utara Malaysia’s (UUM) School of Creative Industry Management and Performing Arts to share her vast experience and knowledge in the creative industry with the students.

She will serve a two-year term that commenced on Oct 1.

In a statement yesterday, UUM vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak said the university recognised Rohana’s accomplishments in the industry and feels that her vast experience is very much needed in the creative industry programmes and the university.

Rohana yesterday received the letter of appointment from Mohamed Mustafa in a ceremony witnessed by over 40 personnel, including deans and students of UUM, Astro’s senior management team, scholars and employees who are currently pursuing their post-graduate degrees at the university.

In her speech, Rohana commended UUM for investing in the School of Creative Industry Management and Performing Arts and said Malaysia has the most creative talent and hence the best chance to be a significant force in Asean’s media industry.

“I am extremely humbled by the opportunity to serve as adjunct professor of UUM and we look forward to more win-win collaborations with UUM, especially in our industry and for Malaysians to be a ‘pipeline’ for a digitally-savvy and creative talent force, [fitted] to compete and create value in the new world order,” she said.
