KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 21): Asia Poly Holdings Bhd's Indonesian unit has obtained the environmental and location permits for its proposed 12 megawatt power capacity hydro-electric power plant in Aceh province.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, Asia Poly said it received notification today that PT Rimba Tripa, in which it has a 51% indirect share, obtained the permits from the relevant local authority on Dec 12.

The permits would allow PT Rimba to carry on the project which has passed the environmental study at the designated location. PT Rimba has also been given the authority to purchase the land required for the project.

On May 22, Asia Poly had said the total cost to construct the power plant was estimated at RM92 million, to be funded by borrowings and PT Rimba's working capital.

Asia Poly shares closed unchanged at 12 sen today, for a market capitalisation of RM39 million.
