KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 1): Based on corporate announcements and news flow today, companies in focus on Tuesday (Oct 2) may include: AppAsia Bhd, Bioalpha Holdings Bhd, Dataprep Holdings Bhd, E.A. Technique (M) Bhd, IHH Healthcare Bhd, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, Mexter Technology Bhd, Prestariang Bhd, Sealink International Bhd, Taliworks Corp Bhd, Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd and Telekom Malaysia Bhd.

AppAsia Bhd is undertaking a share capital reduction of RM24 million with the aim of eliminating its accumulated losses, which amounted to RM23.98 million as at June 30.

The exercise would reduce the company’s share capital to a minimum of RM26.56 million — or RM47.53 million should all AppAsia warrants and options be exercised beforehand.

Bioalpha Holdings Bhd has proposed to raise up to RM23.83 million via a proposed private placement to third party investors at an issue price to be fixed later, which will be partly used for the launch of new products such as health supplements and functional foods in the principal markets of the group or other potential new markets.

It also plans to use part of the proceeds for acquisition of potential new businesses and for working capital.

Bioalpha also said it plans to acquire the business of North West Enterprise Sdn Bhd (NWESB), which is in the manufacture, trading and supply of hotel amenities, personal care products and instant beverage in sachets for hotel and other establishments in the hospitality industry.

Bioalpha said the proposed acquisition of NWESB will be funded via proceeds from the proposed private placement.

Dataprep Holdings Bhd has secured a RM14.2 million contract from RHB Banking Group to provide desktop support and IT-linked helpdesk management services.

The contract will contribute positively to its earnings during its three-year period from today to Sept 30, 2021.

E.A. Technique (M) Bhd is seeking US$21.74 million in claims from Malaysia Marine Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd over a dispute concerning a contract to convert a vessel into a floating storage and offloading facility.

The contract was entered into between the two companies on June 9, 2015.

IHH Healthcare Bhd, through its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary Pantai Hospitals Sdn Bhd, has bought the entire stake in Amanjaya Specialist Centre Sdn Bhd for RM101.66 million.

Amanjaya Specialist Centre Sdn Bhd owns and operates a 98-bed capacity multidiscipline specialist hospital known as Amanjaya Specialist Centre, which is located in Sungai Petani, Kedah.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) plans to upgrade all three runways at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang within the next five years to boost safety and service levels.

While MAHB aims to give advance notice to all relevant stakeholders, its acting group chief executive officer Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin said it is too soon now to gauge as to how long the temporary closures of each runway will be.

Due announcements will be made after a joint decision has been reached by all relevant airport stakeholders, said Raja Azmi in a statement today.

Mexter Technology Bhd is collaborating with Universiti Malaya to provide premium-brand fertility-linked medical services to high-end clients.

The two organisations have inked a five-year service and collaboration agreement to establish LYC Fertility Centre which will be the vehicle to develop and market said services, with a five-year extension option pending certain requirements.

Prestariang Bhd has secured a one-year contract extension from the Ministry of Education (MoE) to supply Microsoft software licenses to all public higher education institutions under the ministry for RM11.63 million.

It is the third extension that the MoE has granted to Prestariang under the work scope since the contract was first announced in August 2011.

Sealink International Bhd is selling a 1.94ha piece of land in Miri, Sarawak to an indirect wholly-owned unit of Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd for RM26.5 million cash – proceeds of which will be used to for loan settlement relating to the property, as well as working capital.

While it is unclear as to how much Sealink’s investment cost to acquire the land was, the group expects a gain of RM19 million from the sale based on the net book value as per audited accounts for the year ended Dec 31, 2017.

Taliworks Corp Bhd shareholders have approved its two-for-three bonus issue of up to 967.59 million shares slated for completion by the middle of this month.

Taliworks had 241.9 million warrants as at Aug 28, 2018, according to a circular dated Sept 12. Exercise price will be adjusted from RM1.70 per warrant presently to RM1.02 post-bonus issue.

Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd has teamed up with beIN Sports to offer live coverage of the UEFA Champion League and UEFA Europa League from the 2018/19 season to 2020/21.

Astro said both competitions will be offered on beIN SPORTS and beIN’s dedicated UEFA channel — beIN SPORTS MAX.

Telekom Malaysia Bhd is seeking to raise RM4 billion for capital expenditure and business operating requirements through the establishment of a series of sukuk wakalah programmes.

A proposal was lodged with the Securities Commission on Sept 28 for the programme, which would comprise Islamic commercial papers (ICPs) and Islamic medium term notes (IMTN) programmes, said the telco firm.
