KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 22): AMMB Holdings Bhd reported today a 5% rise in second quarter net profit at RM348.15 million from RM331.47 million a year earlier, on higher net interest income and Islamic banking income.

In a statement to Bursa Malaysia today, AMMB said group revenue rose to RM2.31 billion in the second quarter ended Sept 30, 2018 (2QFY19) from RM2.13 billion.

For the cumulative six months ended Sept 30, 2018 (1HFY19), AMMB said net profit climbed to RM695.75 million from RM659.74 million a year earlier. Revenue was higher at RM4.49 billion versus RM4.21 billion in the previous year.

For 2QFY19, AMMB declared a dividend of five sen a share. AMMB said the dividend's ex and payment dates fall on Dec 13 and 28 respectively.

"We will continue to focus on driving our income growth momentum, in line with our key segments and products strategies. CASA (current and savings accounts) growth is one of our key priorities this year.

"We aim to strengthen our capital position further and deliver sustainable dividend payout to our shareholders. To achieve this, we are driving initiatives to improve our capital efficiency and return on risk-weighted assets," AMMB said.
