KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 13): AMMB Holdings Bhd (AmBank Group) has appointed former PricewaterhouseCoopers Malaysia executive chairman Datuk Sri Ahmad Johan Raslan as its senior adviser and a member of the board of directors.

According to a statement by the banking group, Johan's role will be to advise the chairman and board of AmBank Group (fundamental: 1.7; valuation: 3) on a variety of issues internal and external to the group.

"His work for the government of Malaysia included board memberships of Perbadanan Putrajaya and The Retirement Fund Incorporated (KWAP), and the chairmanship of the Financial Reporting Foundation. He is currently a member of the Financial Services Professional Board, an appointment under Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM),” said AmBank Group chairman Tan Sri Azman Hashim.

Johan has frequently been consulted in the field of corporate governance. He has worked with the main Malaysian regulators, including Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), Securities Commission (SC), Bursa Malaysia and the Companies Commission of Malaysia.

Until he retired in 2012, he was a member of BNM’s Financial Stability Executive Committee and the SC’s Corporate Governance Consultative Committee.
