KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 6): Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) in Selangor has been allocated eight local council seats under the state's latest list of councillors, ending a tussle for the new party in the Pakatan Harapan coalition.

The Star reported that Selangor state exco for local government, new village development and legalising of factories chairman Ean Yong Hian Wah said PAS, DAP and PKR had agreed on this during the executive council meeting today chaired by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali today.

He however did not reveal which party gave up its seats, saying that it was not important, the report said.

The allocated seats to Amanah are in the Sepang, Kuala Langat, Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor municipal and district councils.

The councillors term ended on Dec 31 last year, amidst talk that the new list would be delayed due to the tussle for seats to accommodate Amanah.

On Monday, Selangor Amanah had said it hoped to have at least two representatives in each of the 12 local councils in the state.

It was also reported earlier that Amanah had difficulty getting council seats as none of the component parties under Pakatan Harapan were willing to give up their allocated seat after the latest revision.

The division of 288 local council seats in the state to each party was revised from 120 for PKR, 92 for DAP and 67 for PAS to 103 for PKR, 98 for DAP and 78 for PAS.
