KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 2): Tunku Tan Sri Imran Tuanku Ja'afar has resigned as the independent and non-executive chairman of the Aluminium Company of Malaysia Bhd (Alcom) after 30 years in the position.

“After many years at the helm of Alcom, Imran felt that it is the right time for him to resign as director and chairman of the company,” Alcom said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Dec 31 last year.

Imran, 69, also resigned as a member of Alcom’s audit and risk management committee, with an additional member to be appointed within three months from Dec 31, 2017, the group said.

Imran has been chairman of Alcom since 1987.

Shares in Alcom were unchanged at 86 sen as at 10.10am this morning, with 53,200 shares traded. The group had a market capitalisation of RM115.52 million.
