KUALA LUMPUR (May 4): AirAsia X Bhd  (AAX) has signed a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) agreement with Safran Landing Systems Singapore for 24 Airbus A330 aircraft.  

The signing ceremony was between CEO Benyamin Ismail and Safran's managing director Shang Cheow Beng. Also present were management team from both Safran and AAX. 

The contract covers complete overhaul and repair services for 24 landing gears of Airbus A330 aircraft. The first scheduled services will be provided by Safran Landing Systems MRO, located in Singapore.  

The newly-signed contract will commence from 2018 to 2025, bringing Safran's total contracted aircraft with AirAsia Group to 56. 

Safran is currently commissioned to provide MRO services for landing gears of 32 Airbus A320 aircraft for AirAsia Bhd, which is the airline group's short haul affiliate. 

At 11.59am, AAX fell 1.32% or 0.5 sen to 37.5 sen, with 2.23 million shares done.
