KUALA LUMPUR (April 13): Low-cost carrier AirAsia Bhd group chief executive Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said the airline was working towards making available more flights to enable Malaysians to vote in the upcoming 14th general election (GE14).

In a series of tweets this morning, Fernandes said, "Team is now working hard to put on more flights."

"Kudos to the revenue team for working overtime and doing this for the people of Malaysia. Go home and vote #GE14 #ForThePeople," he said.

Meanwhile, AirAsia said it is offering fixed fares on all domestic routes on May 8-9 to support Malaysians travelling back to their constituencies to vote.

It said one-way fares are fixed at RM99 for routes within Peninsular Malaysia and within East Malaysia, RM129 for routes between Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak and RM199 for routes between Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah, subject to availability.

The airline said the one-way all-in fare is inclusive of taxes and fees. Terms and conditions apply.

"Guests traveling during the polling period are advised to arrive at the airport earlier to avoid congestion, and to use our web check-in and mobile check-in services for maximum convenience.

"Web and mobile check-in services are available from 14 days before to one hour before the scheduled time of departure," it said.
