KUALA LUMPUR (April 10): Low-cost carrier AirAsia Bhd is waiving flight change fees for booking where the travel date falls on the polling day May 9, to ensure guests' travel plans are not affected.

In a statement, AirAsia said the offer applies only to Malaysian citizens and must be done within ten days from the announcement of the polling day by the Election Commission of Malaysia (EC).

AirAsia said the options include to move flight — to perform one date change for all bookings without flight change fee, in order to postpone travel by up to 30 days from the original travel date, of which it is subjected to seat availability and any fare or tax differences or credit account — to retain the fare value in AirAsia BIG Loyalty account for future travel with AirAsia, to be redeemed within 90 calendar days from the date of credit issue.

“Guests may choose one of the following options.

“Guests traveling during the polling period are advised to arrive at the airport earlier, in order to avoid congestion, and to use our web check-in and mobile check-in services for maximum convenience,” AirAsia added.

Furthermore, AirAsia said web and mobile check-in services are available from 14 days before to 1 hour before the scheduled time of departure.

“For guests with check-in baggage, we recommend you arrive early to ensure sufficient time to drop off your baggage at the counter, before proceeding to the departure gate,” the statement added.
