KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 13): Shares of low cost carrier AirAsia Bhd rose 1.25% this morning after its chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes tweeted that the stock was worth RM6.

At 9.05am, AirAsia rose 4 sen to RM3.23 with 339,500 shares traded.

Fernandes, who is the founder of Tune Air Sdn Bhd, which introduced the first budget no-frills airline, also had appeared to brush off a rumour of him retiring any time soon.

In a tweet earlier this morning, Fernandes said: “I told analysts we we were worth RM3.00 when we were 0.70 cents. Now I say we are worth 6.00. There is no airline that has as much growth as airaosa (AirAsia) with a huge digital strategy that has assets worth more than our present market capitalisation.”

In the series of tweets, he also said: “Laughable that there is a rumour I’m retiring. My announcement is exciting one that charts our future of AIRASIA.”

He said in another tweet: "So not going anywhere. Exciting times ahead."
