KUALA LUMPUR: Ahmad Zaki Resources Bhd has secured an additional work package contract worth RM288.5 million to construct three elevated stations and associated works for the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya mass rapid transit line 2 (MRT2).

Awarded by Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd, the construction of the Serdang Raya (South), Seri Kembangan and Universiti Putra Malaysia stations will take 48 months to complete, the engineering and construction group said in a statement.

Last year, Ahmad Zaki won a RM1.44 billion contract to construct the viaduct guideway and other works for MRT2 stations over a 4.5km stretch from Persiaran Dagang, Bandar Sri Damansara to Jinjang.

The group earlier successfully completed two packages for the Sungai Buloh–Kajang line (MRT1).

“This additional package awarded to us demonstrates our capability and excellent track record as a railway infrastructure builder,” said Ahmad Zaki managing director Datuk Seri Wan Zakariah Wan Muda.

“With more railway projects to be rolled out in the next few years, we are confident that our experience and skill sets will position us well in tendering for other major upcoming railway projects such as the East Coast Rail Link, Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail and KVMRT (Klang Valley MRT) Phase 3,” he added.

The group said the latest contract will contribute progressively to the group’s income from the financial year ending Dec 31, 2017 (FY17) to FY21.

It added that its year-to-date contract wins have increased to RM502.5 million, pushing the current unbilled order book to RM4 billion, which will provide visibility to its earnings in the next three to four years.

The 52.2km MRT2, which is expected to commence full services by the second quarter of 2022, costs between RM35 billion and RM40 billion. It has 37 stations, of which 11 are underground.
