KUALA LUMPUR: AEON Credit Service (M) Bhd yesterday announced the demise of its independent and non-executive chairman Datuk Abdullah Mohd Yusof at age 78.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, AEON Credit said the board of directors will identify or source for a suitable candidate as the chairman in due course.

According to the company’s annual report 2017, Abdullah was appointed chairman of AEON Credit on July 23, 1997. He had more than 45 years of experience as an advocate and solicitor.

He started his career with Skrine & Co as a legal assistant in 1968 before starting his own partnership under the name of Tunku Zuhri Manan & Abdullah, Advocates & Solicitors in 1969 and subsequently renamed the law firm to Abdullah & Zainudin, Advocates and Solicitors in 1989 where he had remained a partner.

He also sat on the board of MMC Corp Bhd and Zelan Bhd.
