KUALA LUMPUR (May 8): Accidents along major expressways on Peninsular Malaysia have caused significant delays to motorists, many of whom are expected to be travelling to their hometowns on the eve of polling day.

Notable motor breakdowns occurred along the Kuala Lumpur-Karak highway, PLUS highway between Nilai and Seremban and the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) near Kota Damansara.

Roads appear relatively clear after the incidents, especially along the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway where a crash near Bukit Tinggi had slowed movement of cars leaving the city centre.

Traffic leading towards Bentong and Raub, which saw a surge earlier today, appears to have eased at press time.

Meanwhile, two separate accidents along the North-South Expressway had kept vehicles moving at a crawl on the NSE all the way past Rawang.
