KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 28): A total of 696 or 77% of all 901 listed securities on Bursa Malaysia are now shariah-compliant, the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) said today.

The newly-classified securities include AirAsia Group Bhd, Caring Pharmacy Group Bhd, Country Heights Holdings Bhd, Guan Chong Bhd, Hong Leong Industries Bhd, Teo Seng Capital Bhd, Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd, KESM Industries Bhd, Tiong Nam Logistics Holdings Bhd.

Also in the list are Heng Huat Resources Group Bhd, Kim Hin Joo (Malaysia) Bhd, Mestron Holdings Bhd, YNH Property Bhd, Focus Lumber Bhd, AE Multi Holdings Bhd, Advance Information Marketing Bhd, D'Nonce Technology Bhd, QES Group Bhd, SDS Group Bhd, and others.

Meanwhile, those excluded from the list include Alcom Group Bhd, Amcorp Properties Bhd, IJM Plantations Bhd, OCK Group Bhd, Pentamaster Corp Bhd, Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd, YKGI Holdings Bhd, Mudajaya Group Bhd, KNM Group Bhd, and Perak Corp Bhd.

The SC said the updated list, which takes effect tomorrow, was approved by its Shariah Advisory Council.

The full list is updated twice a year, based on the companies' latest annual audited financial statements.

The next updated list will be made available in May 2020, based on the review of the audited financial statements released up to March 31, 2020.
