KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 3): Some 11.85 million shares, representing a 3.28% stake in SMRT Holdings Bhd, were traded off-market today.

Bloomberg data showed shares were traded in a single block at 18 sen apiece — a 2.86% discount to its last open market price — for a consideration of RM2.13 million.

It was not immediately known as to who were involved in the transaction.

On Oct 30, SMRT had said all five of its directors had notified of their intention to deal in the company’s securities, prior to its results announcement for the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2017 (3QFY17).

In April, SMRT had welcomed Tev Vest Sdn Bhd as its new substantial shareholder with a 6% stake, after it undertook two private placements in the education and human resources firm.

On Oct 12, SMRT received an unusual market activity (UMA) query after its shares hit a three-month high of 22 sen, to which it replied it is unaware of any possible explanation for the surge.

The company has seen another 3.32% stake traded off-market on Oct 27 at 17 sen apiece — on par with the open market price on that day — for RM2.04 million.

Shares of SMRT closed unchanged at 17.5 sen today, for a market capitalisation of RM63.18 million.
